The Adventures
Mt Adams, WA
Mt Adams is the 2nd tallest volcanic peak in the Pacific Northwest. It rises to 12,280 feet above sea level and has amazing views of Mt Hood, Mt Jefferson, Mt Rainer, Mt St Helens, and on a very sunny and clear day Mt Shasta. Depending upon the route chosen to climb Mt Adams can go from a moderate technical route to a difficult technical climb. If you decide that you just want to get the feel for mountaineering and learn some new skills then head up to Mt Adams and camp on the glaciers! Up on the glaciers you can learn how to set up your camp, how to walk as a team on a glacier, how to self arrest, and many more skills!
Mt st helens, wa
Mt St Helens is one of the bucket list of climbs that anyone coming to the PNW should have. It's a great example of how an ecosystem rebounds after a catastrophic event. Though the climb is only 8,363 feet above sea level, it is a long approach to the actual climbing area. The last 1,200 vertical feet are extremely steep and during late spring /early summer require beginning to moderate climbing skills and techniques. It is all worth it at the top of the mountain for views of Mt Rainer, Mt Adams, Mt Hood, and of course the volcanic crater below!
Mt erie, wa
Rock climbing on Mt Erie takes place on the shoulders of legends. Fred Beckley and Dallas Kloke (two of the founders of American Rock Climbing) have set most of the routes on Mt Erie and all of them have some of the best views of Puget Sound you could ever ask for. The routes on Mt Erie allow for a vast amount of experience level- from 5.6 Sport / Top Rope to 5.11 TRAD climbs, all are amazing and fun! Once at the top of a route you'll be able to see such sights as the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, Victoria BC, the Straights of Juan de Fuca, and on a good day Orca Whales!
VANTAGE, WA
Vantage is also known as Frenchman Coulee. It is a hallmark rock climbing destination of the PNW. Here you can climb basalt rock formations that were created during the last ice age when the ice dams of Glacial Lake Missoula collapsed flooding over the entire eastern side of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. They left behind some of the most classical rock climbing formations in the world! These routes go from 5.5 -5.11 Sport / Top rope climbs that are very fun for beginners to experienced climbers!
